About the University
Why KSMU?
Kursk State Medical University (KSMU) was founded in 1935 and is one of Russia's oldest and most respected medical institutions. Situated in the historic city of Kursk, it has been training doctors for nearly nine decades.
KSMU is the most popular destination for Indian medical students in Russia — over 1,200 Indian students study here at any given time, creating a strong, supportive community. The university has dedicated Indian student coordinators and an Indian mess that serves familiar food.
The university's clinical base includes 12 affiliated teaching hospitals in Kursk with a combined capacity of over 4,000 beds, giving students exceptional hands-on patient exposure from Year 3 onwards.
With a near-90% licensing exam pass rate among graduates who followed the university's preparation program, KSMU consistently outperforms most peer institutions when it comes to enabling Indian students to return and practice in India.
